Señorío de Sarría Crianza 2014 wins Gold Medal at the Berlin Wine Trophy and Asia Wine Trophy

Señorío de Sarría Rosé 2017 gets silver

Bodega de Sarría, belonging to the Bornos Bodegas & Viñedos group, has once again achieved recognition for the high quality of its wines in two of the most prestigious international wine challenges. Two of the most representative wines of this Navarra winery were awarded top medals at both the Berlin Wine Trophy and the Asia Wine Trophy challenges. Its red wine Señorío de Sarría Crianza 2014 was awarded a Gold Medal at both of these prestigious challenges, while its rosé wine Señorío de Sarría Rosado 2017 won Silver Medal at the German event.

“These new awards demonstrate the high quality of the wines produced by Bodega de Sarría. We are very proud to have won Gold and Silver Medals at these two leading international wine challenges. We would like to dedicate these awards to all the team at the winery and give special thanks to our winemaking team, without whose work and tireless efforts it wouldn’t have been possible to achieve such great results,” said Fernando Zaratiegui, the General Manager of the Bornos Bodegas & Viñedos group.

The Asia Wine Trophy challenge was held at the state-of-the-art Daejeon Convention Center (DCC) in South Korea. Over 300 wines were rated by a 12-member judging panel. This event carries great importance in the Asian market, in which wine consumption has been rising fast over the last years.

The Berlin Wine Trophy is one of the leading wine challenges in the international wine sector. Wines from all four corners of the world take part in it. The challenge, overseen and organised by the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) brought recognition in its summer edition to the excellent quality of the wines of Bodega de Sarría.

Such was the high quality of Señorío de Sarría Crianza 2014 that the judging panels of both wine challenges awarded it a Gold Medal. This red wine was made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache and Graciano and was aged one year in American oak barrels and at least one year in bottle.  It displays a dark, black-cherry colour, while on the nose red berry fruit aromas come to the fore against a backdrop of vanilla, roasted coffee beans and balsamic notes. Excellent fruit character comes through on the palate with balanced acidity and good length of flavour.

Señorío de Sarría Rosado is a rosé wine made solely from the Grenache variety. It is vinified using the traditional saignée method. It displays a raspberry colour and reveals on the nose intense fruit aromatics with notes of red berries and fennel. The entry on the palate is fresh and pleasant and is followed by lingering fruit flavour.
